Thoughts

Just a few thoughts that I have stumbled upon lately.

1.  I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

2.  Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong.

3.  I totally take back all those times I didn’t want to nap when I was younger.

4.  There is great need for a sarcasm font.

5.  How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

6.  Was learning cursive really necessary?

7.  Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. I’m pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

8.  Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

9.  I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t at least kind of tired.

10.  Bad decisions make good stories.

11.  You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren’t going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.
12.  Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don’t want to have to restart my collection…again.

13.  I’m always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

14.  “Do not machine wash or tumble dry” means I will never wash this - ever.

15.  I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Damn it!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voice mail. What did you do after I didn’t answer? Drop the phone and run away?

16.  I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

17.  I keep some people’s phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

18.  I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

19.  I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay.

21.  Sometimes, I’ll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the heck was going on when I first saw it.

22.  I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.

23.  The only time I look forward to a red light is when I’m trying to finish a text.

24.  I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

25.  How many times is it appropriate to say “What?” before you just nod and smile because you still didn’t hear or understand a word they said?

26.  I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent an A-hole from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!

27.  Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.

28.  Is it just me or do high school kids get dumber and dumber every year?

29.  There’s no worse feeling than that millisecond you’re sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

30.  As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists.
31.  Sometimes I’ll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

32.  Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet my ass everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time!

June 6

When God created June 6, He knew that it was going to be great.

Sydney:  You are always on the move.  We traveled the world together, and you are still on the run.  Celebrating your birthday in New York has got to be spectacular!  But I bet it can't beat your birthday in France!  Live it up.  I miss you and can't wait to see you when you get home!

Hillary:  What can I say about you?  You are a different breed, and for that I am thankful.  There aren't many like you in the world.  I'm glad that I can count you as my friend.  I am also glad that now I will be able to visit you every time I come home!  I am so excited for tonight so that we can celebrate together!

Katherine:  Shawty u da bestest.  How fortunate were we to have met?  I am so thankful for watching The Bachelor with you and listening to you rap.  As if last year wasn't enough fun, this year will be better.  I can't wait to spend it with you!  Wish we could celebrate together!  Me love you long time.

So ladies, near and far,
Happy Birthday
to the best of them all!

Breathe Me

Be my friend.

Hold me.

Wrap me up.

Unfold me.

I am small.

I'm needy.

Warm me up.

And breathe me.

My Sweet Friend

It is 23 days until my birthday.  But today when I woke up, I got to celebrate early.  I received a package from my sweet friend, Amanda.

Complete with:

So that I can celebrate by myself.  And:

So that I can enjoy myself.

But my favorite thing, which of course she knew it would be, was this:

All of the music from our favorite show.

Which has inspired a day of this:

And this:

So days after my birthday, when you return from:

(Yes, she is studying to be a wizard at Hogwarts this summer.)

We can have a dance party -- just the two of us.

So here's to you, sweet friend.
Thank you for making my early birthday so very sweet.

Mississippi Longing

This year was the best year of my life.  I enjoyed it more than I ever imagined that I would.  I am happy to be home, but I wish that the summer would fly by so that I can be with the people that I love in the place that I love.  Remembering the good times is what is keeping me sane.

These are the times (and the people) that I miss the most:

Black and White

Black and white is beautiful.

So classic.

Breathtaking.

And lucky for me, it sells.  I work in a clothing store that specializes in the black and white.  Which makes sense.  Black and white is a fashion statement.  It is a staple in everyone's closet.  One needs to have black and white options.  From really casual to black tie.  It makes sense.

But I can't say that style is me.  I love color.  I'm not asking for a lot.

Maybe just a little bit of LOVE.

Don't Let Your Heart Be Troubled

This morning was my first Sunday back to the church I have grown up in.  And like normal, the sermon was written and delivered with me in mind.  God knew what the congregation needed to hear.

I have been dealing a lot lately with stress and worldly problems.  Each day I can feel the weight of my struggles pressing deeply into my shoulders.  There are some days when the burden is so heavy that I can only see my feet.  But today, God wanted me to see a little differently.

"Do not let your hearts be troubled.  Trust in God; trust also in Me."
-John 14:1

Let your hair down.
Shrug off the burden.
Take your shoes off.
Dance.
Take a load off.
Be at ease.
Enjoy peace and quiet.
Relax.
Give it up.
Get out of town.

Let go and let God.
